You can’t even fit a 10 wide tire on an 8 inch wide rim I wouldn’t think. You can go one inch without much of a problem typically, but two I don’t think would work. If it does fit, I would expect a ton of sidewall punctures but your rim being okay. But if you run it on a 10 inch wide rim, it would be like “normal”.

yeah that’ll be fine…..the recommended rim width for most 12.50 tires is 8.5-11…so that falls in that range you will be fine. The issue will be whether or not the tire size you go with will fit without rubbing on your rig. Lots of people run 12.50 on their stock 7.5 inch rims with no major problems.

You can run a 275/40/17 on an 8.5″ wide wheel. However those wheels are going to look goofy IMO on the car because they are going to be tucked way into the fender. If you can return them I would and get a set of the 9.5″/10.5″ wide versions.
